Let's start with a little history about me, for what it's worth.

I've been playing guitar since 1966, working on my own guitars because there was no one to do it in the Missouri River country north of Kansas City.  My first amp was a Blackface Fender Vibro Champ, and I've never owned a solid state amp...Don't care for 'em, don't understand 'em.  Of course I had my Vibro Champ pulled apart in the first week, even though I didn't know what I was doing.  It continued to work after I got it back together, so I guess I didn't screw things up too much.  I played my first gig with that little amp, at the high school gym in Lansing, Kansas, and was told to "TURN DOWN!" 6 mighty watts and an 8 inch speaker and it was overbearing to the administration. Ahh! Those were the days!

Within a year I had moved up to a Fender Showman 12, which I still own.  From the smallest Fender amp to one of the most powerful. The Showman would travel with me from coast to coast over the next 20 years, and never once fail on me. That is why I believe in the older tube amps... When they are kept in good operating condition they are Road Dogs. I would have to say the same about the guitars from the same era.

I carried a '61 Gibson SG/Les Paul around for the same 20 years and never had to do anything to it except change the strings.

The years blew by, as they always do, and 1989 found me in Clearwater, Florida, playing music (Blues) and working at a music store, doing my self- taught guitar repair. I had heard talk of a fellow named John Buscarino, a guitar builder in nearby Largo, Florida. I went and talked with him and began my apprenticeship in his shop. It was one of the best things that ever happened, as I was able to glean tons of experience from a master luthier, something that just doesn't happen very often.

If you would like to see what John is up to now, click on this link, www.buscarino.com. He builds a fine guitar!

I now reside in the Orlando, Florida area, in a little town named Chuluota, and I have a music store where I do full service repair on stringed instruments and vintage tube amplifiers.
